Les Landes by bike: from Vieux-Boucau to Capbreton on the Vélodyssée
Where to cycle in the Landes? At the end of the summer, we take you on a ride on the Vélodyssée, from Vieux-Boucau-les-bains to Capbreton, on the south coast of the Landes. Get on your bikes, electric bikes and fatbikes!
Wild Seignosse... the smell of pine trees and the sound of the waves
After having tasted the charm of Vieux-Boucau and its view over the ocean, the Vélodyssée takes us through the Landes forest by bike, to Soustons, then Seignosse. With its 6 km of fine sandy beach, its 18-hole golf course and its immense pine forest, the small seaside resort of Seignosse is well worth a visit. From July to September, guides from the National Forestry Office (ONF) offer nature outings to discover the fauna and flora, the secrets of the formation of the dune or the forgotten tradition of gemmage (every Wednesday from 9.30am to 12pm).
Hossegor, the bourgeoisie and Capbreton, the city of a hundred captains
After this green interlude in the heart of the forest, the walk continues to Hossegor (officially Soorts-Hossegor). On the way, you will discover the "wild coast", the viewpoints on the ocean and the beautiful Basque-Landes villas which emerge from the pine forest. Thanks to the world-famous waves that it shares with Seignosse, Hossegor has become the European capital of surfing. All year round, the Landes spot attracts the best surfers in the world, especially during major competitions such as the Quiksilver Pro France, the only French stage of the World Surfing Championship.

Take the opportunity to discover Hossegor's marine lake on foot. The place is ideal for putting down your bikes, having a picnic, taking a dip on the beach or having a nap in the shade of the pines. A landscaped promenade runs around the lake (7.5 km). Reserved for pedestrians, the route is marked out with interpretation panels on the fauna, flora, oyster farming and local history.
We get back on the saddle to reach the last stage of our cycling trip in the south of the Landes. Direction Capbreton! The cycle path leads straight to the Napoleon III pier, which marks the exit of the only fishing port in the Landes. Its seafront, its large ocean beaches and its famous fish market make it a seaside resort much appreciated by tourists.
